Forum: general Subject: Re: What I can and can't do.

I am in the same situation as you, i have looked over the faq and terms of service but none say explicitaltyl if there are a set of minimum rights granted to the user for all content (i'm talking about the movie collection here). Not all movie collections specifically state what terms the content is distributed under.

I am particularly interested in the rights of distribution as i am a member of a college computer society in Ireland and we were thinking of running an "Open Content Night" where we would essentially screen a selection of (preferably high-quality) videos and distribute copies of all material in your chosen format (vcd / mpeg4 / vhs) for free to people that attended the lecture. Kind of like a bookmobile for video. I am however not sure if all of the liscences allow me to publically screen these videos and if i'm allowed say record them onto vhs for free distribution. Any advice welcome.

Thanks
David C.
